Scope of practice bills introduced.
HB 700 is broken down for constitutionality reasons and eight scope of practice bills are introduced in House. Bills address CRNPs, clinical nurse specialists (CNSs), physician assistants (PAs), nurse midwives, dental hygienists, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), and pharmacists. Key areas of concern include:

  1. Removal of limits on number of collaborative agreements.
  2. Breadth of CRNP prescriptive authority.
  3. Expansion of CNS practice.
  4. Removal of physician supervision requirement for CRNA.
  5. Scope of prescriptive authority proposed for nurse midwives.
Society officers meet with Rendell immediately following Board meeting to discuss concerns.
